Flood Plain Insurance Why Should I Have To Pay For Flood Insurance For People Who Choose To Live In A Flood Plain?

Why should I have to pay for flood insurance for people who choose to live in a flood plain? - flood plain insurance

Private insurers refused to provide insurance against flooding for the people in flooded areas. But people are always moving too. So the federal government funded insurance against floods. When will we stop this socialism?

The federal government does not "fund" insurance. Insurance policy holders fund insurance. The federal government is sort of the secodary carrier as it makes sure that claims are paid if the insurance fund goes into the red. Then policies are required to pay back the loan with interest. This all worked well until Katrina, which was a more damaging event than the fund was established for.

I ask the same question for years. The federal government is not empowered to act as an insurance company, for a start. You have the power after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. You have the power after the hurricanes in Florida or Louisiana. Ship has never been a direct response from someone in the swamps (DC). Good luck if you try to decide.

You do not waste time with "clause of the common good" either. Rebuilding a city where thousands of people choose to live below sea level, do not guarantee the welfare of the majority of the population of 300,000,000. Also, read the Federalist Paper Number 41st
